Carryin’ Myself On Down to School    Words & Music Neil Brewer 2006

Carryin' pencils, carryin’ glue -

carryin’ scissors and paper, too.

Carryin’ my crayon box for sure -

‘cause I finally got the kind with the sharpener!

Carryin’ a ruler and some rubber bands -

‘got ‘em  all in the box here in my hands,

‘cause I’m carryin’ all of my learnin’ tools ...

as I carry myself on down to school.

Carryin a baking soda submarine -

carryin’ marbles and a Rat Fink Ring.

Carryin’ my favorite baseball cards -

and an arrowhead I found in my neighbor’s yard.

Carryin’ my prehistoric fossil rocks -

got ‘em all right here in my cigar box,

‘cause I’m carryin’ everything I think is cool …

as I carry myself on down to school.

Carryin love and other stuff -

from the first five years that I’ve been raised up.

Carryin’ prejudice, carryin’ pride -

and a whole lot of other stuff down inside.

Well, I might learn somethin’ in kindergarten,

but I got news - the learnin’ long ago started

‘cause I’m carryin’ all of my family’s rules ...

as I carry myself on down to school.
